STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The story continued to be the same for the Franciscan University men's basketball team, as it fell victim to yet another hot-shooting opponent, the Medaille College Mavericks. The Barons dropped the game, 85-48.
"What happened was, [Medaille] came out hot and shot well from three, and that was the reason the game went the way it did," Baron head coach John Lamanna said. "We can't get in situations where we trade baskets with our opponents; we have to figure out how to get stops."
The Mavericks shot 52 percent from beyond the arch (13-25) and 59 percent from the field overall. In comparison, the Barons shot just 17 percent from three and 44 percent overall.
The Barons were once again led offensively by freshman standout Nolan Albrecht who led the team in scoring with 20. He also recorded eight rebounds, three assists and a steal. Also contributing offensively for Franciscan was Daniel Kroening, who had 10 points and five rebounds on the afternoon.
"We're more dialed in on what we need to work on for Wednesday's game," Lamanna added. "As we move forward we're going to emphasize guarding the basketball and executing things offensively."
The Barons, still winless on the year, host the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
