GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Franciscan men's basketball team fell to host Grove City, 79-61, Tuesday night.
Once again, the Barons had four different players score in double-digits as Keoni Sablan, Jacob Divens, Michael Mendicino, and Joe Schriner all scored at least 10 points. Freshman Josh York led all players today with 12 rebounds, spreading them evenly between offensive and defensive boards.
Trailing 20 at the half, the Barons fought their way back into the game. Schriner hit a three with 13:23 to play in the second to cut the lead to 53-37 but the Wolverines regained a 20-point lead after a jumper and a pair of free throws at 12:24.
The Wolverines lead by as many as 25 points with 5:19 to play at Andrew Beckman hit a jumper. Divens and Anthony Politza traded a pair of free throws before Mendicino and Sablan cut the lead back to 19 at 75056 with 2:34 to play. Mendicino closed out the scoring with a three and a layup to bring the score to its final at 79-61.
Divens finished the day with 10 points, five assists and five rebounds while Sablan added an assist and steal to his 13 points.
Franciscan returns home on Saturday as the Barons host Westminster (Pa.) for a 3pm tipoff.
