Three Named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Franciscan softball team had three players honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as they were named 2017 All-America Scholar-Athletes, following the season.

To qualify as an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete mush have acquired a 3.5 GPA for the to qualify for the individual honor.

For the third year in a row, Caroline Durand earned the honor while Ashley Kondracki and Kathleen Thompson each received the distinction for the first time.

The Lady Barons went 12-20 overall in 2017 and posted an 8-10 record in conference. Both win totals were records for the program while Franciscan earned its first-ever bid to the AMCC tournament. Franciscan set program records in runs (138), hits (238), doubles (29) and triples (9) while posting the third-best team batting average, .271.
