Lady Barons Fall to Chatham in Season Opener

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Franciscan women's basketball team opened the 2017-18 season at Chatham on Wednesday evening. The Lady Barons fell to the Cougars, 56-23.

After a scoreless first 5:23 of play for both teams, freshman Annie McGraw got the Lady Barons on the board first with a jumper thanks to a pass from Vaughan. The Cougars (1-0) scored the game's next eight points to take an 8-2 lead and control of the first quarter. Franciscan battled back to get to within three, 10-7, with just 20 seconds left in the quarter, but that would be as close as the Lady Barons would get.
