HAMBURG, NY – The Franciscan women's basketball team struggled to find a rhythm on offense as the Lady Barons fell to Hilbert, 70-31, in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Saturday afternoon.
As a team, the Lady Barons shot 29.7% from the floor but went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.
After a 34-12 first half in favor of the Hawks, the Lady Barons were nearly basket-for-basket with Hilbert as the teams played to a 10-10 tie through the first nine minutes of the third quarter. Stead capped the Lady Barons' scoring in the period with a three-pointer off an assist from junior Gaby DeJesus. The Hawks closed out the quarter with a three of their own to take a 47-22 lead after the first three quarters.
Hilbert closed out the game with a 23-9 fourth quarter to hold the Lady Barons at bay with the 70-31 win.
Franciscan returns home on Monday as the Lady Barons host Mt. St. Joseph at 7pm at Kuzma Court.
