STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's lacrosse team hosted Siena Heights in its final home game of the season and fell to the Saints 21-7, Saturday afternoon.
The Saints got on the board early in the first half and quickly took a 3-0 lead after five minutes of action. Junior Carly McDonald cut the lead down to 3-1 with her first of the game off a pass from Blair Wonderly and Elizabeth McEntee followed with her first of the game just a minute later to get the Lady Barons to within one, 3-2, with 19:07 to play.
The Saints then used a four-goal run over eight minutes of action to take a 7-2 lead. Krolicki halted their run with a pair of goals to cut the lead back down to three, 7-4. Krolicki's first goal extended her point-scoring streak to 46-straight games. Siena Heights closed out the first half on a 3-1 run to take the 10-5 lead into halftime.
After Taylor Swartz and Krolicki traded goals to open the second, the Saints broke open the game with a 10-0 run to take a 21-6 lead with 8:47 to play.
Freshman Maria Hilkert closed out the scoring with her first goal of the game to cut the lead to 21-7.
Franciscan got two shots off in the final 1:30 of the game and a Saint free position shot went wide as the game ended 21-7 in favor of Siena Heights.
Junior Brittany Bain made 10 saves in the cage for Franciscan.
The Lady Barons close out their regular season today against Wilmington (Ohio) at 2:00 pm.
