Lady Barons Fall to Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Franciscan women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to Catholic University on Friday.

Despite leading at one point on all courts, the Lady Barons could not hang on as CUA rallied for wins on all three doubles courts and in the top four singles matches.

A bright spot on the day came at No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles where junior Taranee Karimpour and Emmy Mathias earned FUS' two wins on the day.

Karimpour played a strong first set to win 6-1 before closing off the second with  a 6-3 win. Mathias and Lauren Edwards battled in the first set at No. 6 singles with Mathias coming out victorious 7-6 after a 7-4 tie break. Mathias took care of business and closed out her match with a 6-3 win.

The Lady Barons continue their road trip with a match against Stevenson today before returning home to host Cedarville on September 21 at 4pm.
