MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Franciscan women's tennis team rolled to its third-straight win and second shutout of the season as the Lady Barons defeated Messiah, Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Barons were once again dominant in their doubles matches, which gave them a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Senior Maria Binette and junior Madelyn Conrad continue to impress at the No. 1 spot with an 8-4 win. Freshmen Zoey Stapleton and Antonia Mysyk played together for just the second time in two days and worked an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles for the Lady Barons. Junior Grace Hammel and Ana Victoria Haddad Garcia kept their perfect streak alive at No. 2 doubles with an 8-2 win.
Playing up at No. 5 singles, Stapleton swept her opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, while Mysyk won her first singles match of the season with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. Senior Julia Razook rolled at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 straight set win. Haddad and Binette each won at No. 3 and No. 2 singles respectively, 6-3, 6-2 and Conrad worked a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
The Lady Barons will take a few days off before hosting AMCC opponent Pitt.-Greensburg on Thursday, September 13 at 3:00 pm.
