Binette Becomes All-Time Doubles Leader; Lady Barons Sweep Muskingum

STEUBENVILLE – With her win at No. 1 doubles, senior Maria Binette (Owings Mills, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) became the Franciscan women's tennis all-time leader in doubles wins and helped the Lady Barons to a 9-0 win over Muskingum, Friday afternoon.

Binette and junior Madelyn Conrad (Bethlehem, PA/Home School) cruised to an 8-0 win in the top doubles match to kick off the Lady Barons 11th win as the Lady Barons remain perfect on the season. No. 2 doubles team, junior Grace Hammel (North Falmouth, MA/St. Mary's Ryken) and sophomore Ana Victoria Haddad Garcia (Chihuahua, Chih. Mexico/Bachillerato Academy) picked up the second point for the Lady Barons with an 8-0 win as well. Seniors Taranee Karimpour (Ona, WV/St. Joseph) and Julia Razook (Sugar Land, TX/Laurel Springs School) closed out doubles with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.

In a shakeup of the singles line up, it was freshman Antonia Mysyk (Chardon, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) who got the Lady Barons their fourth point at No. 4 singles. Mysyk rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win. Haddad, playing at No. 1 singles for the first time this season, made the most of the top spot with a 6-0, 6-0 win to clinch the match win for Franciscan.

Sophomore Kayla DiSalle (Clarkston, MI/Everest Collegiate) earned a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles for her first win of the season. Freshman Anna Swope (Columbus, NE/Columbus) won her first match of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Freshman Zoey Stapleton (Palmyra, PA/Bishop McDevitt) improved to 6-1 on the year with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and Karimpour closed out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.

The Lady Barons will return to the court next Friday as they travel to Saint Vincent for a  3:30 pm non-conference match.
