Lady Barons Drop a Pair of Matches at Dig Pink

STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan volleyball team hosted another successful Dig Pink Day on Saturday despite falling to Oberlin and Geneva, 3-0, in non-conference action.

The Lady Barons played well on defense for the day despite struggling at the net. Between the two matches, Franciscan posted 70 digs, including 45 against Gevena in the second match of the day for both teams. Senior Maria Ciola led the Lady Barons with 10 kills on the day while freshman MaryKate Taylor had 15 digs between the two matches and sophomore Lauren Betar had 17, including 14 against Geneva. Freshman Emily Nutter finished the day with 16 assists.

Beyond the Boxscore

• With her pair of digs, Ciola hit 650 for her career at Franciscan.

• The Lady Barons hit the road for a string of road matches, including the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic next weekend.

• The next time the Lady Barons play at home will be September 24 when they host Bethany (WV).
