Dan Kramer is the fourth coach in the Franciscan rugby’s storied 11-year program history and has continued the winning-tradition at FUS. Kramer is currently 13-7 as head coach of the Barons.
Under his guidance, the Barons have won back-to-back 3RRC championships and in 2017, Franciscan won the Central East Region Cup and advanced to the regional championship for the first time since the 2012-13 season. Franciscan was ranked as high as third in the nation by NSCRO.
In his first year at the helm, Kramer guided the Barons to a dramatic upset win over Robert Morris in the 3RRC championship game and earned a spot in the NSCRO regional tournament.
In 2016, the Barons went 6-6 on the year, including 4-3 during the regular season. Over a span of four-straight wins, Franciscan out-scored its opponents 225-36, including an 80-0 win over Geneva in the final home game of the season.
Franciscan finished the season ranked 10th in the nation by NSCRO in their fall 2016 final standings.
Prior to taking over the team, Kramer served as an assistant coach from 2014-15 after a successful playing career with the Barons.
A 2012 graduate of Franciscan, Kramer played rugby from 2010-2012 and was a team captain for the 2011-12 season. During the 2011-12 season, the Barons were ranked #1 in the nation and placed third at USA Rugby national tournament.
In 2015, the Barons finished the year with a 4-3 record during the fall after play in the 3RRC championship game against Robert Morris.
