Box Score Franciscan University of Steubenville Lost Fifth Game in a Row
STEUBENVILLE, OH. - The Lady Barons of Franciscan University of
Steubenville fell 1-0 to the La Roche College Redhawks Saturday,
putting their record at 5-8-1. The Lady Barons have lost their last
5 games.
It was a back and forth battle for the Lady Barons and the
Redhawks, with both teams playing strong defensive. Offensively the
teams were nearly even-matched as well, with La Roche totaling 12
shots and FUS totaling 10.
"We played a good game," said FUS Head Coach Patrick Doering,
"we just did not put the ball in the net." Doering continued on to
mention, "the things we have been working on showed in this game
and we are definitely making improvement, we are definitely making
strides."
The board remained blank for the whole of the first half and the
majority of the second, until La Roche player Jemma Devlin drove in
a shot to the right corner past FUS Keeper Nikki Traylor, scoring
the only and winning goal of the game in the 82nd
minute.
Coach Doering expressed appreciation for Traylor's hard work and
effort, "Nikki kept us in the game and is doing extremely well."
The Lady Barons next game will be at home against OSU Newark on
Wednesday at 5 p.m.
