FUS Lady Barons sneak by Pitt-Greensburg
GREENSBURG, PA. - The Franciscan University of
Steubenville Lady Barons won their third game in a row Saturday, as
they came away with a 1-0 victory against the University of
Pitt-Greensburg Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Barons were out-shot 12-7, but their offensive won out
when FUS Freshman Audrey Fletcher scored in the 42nd
minute with an assist by Junior Tana Vyvlecka. And the Lady Bobcats
- thanks to solid defense and six saves by FUS Keeper Nicki Traylor
- were not able to put a goal of their own on the board.
"I thought we played wonderful," Mentioned Vyvlecka after the
game. "We were all happy to be out there and we had a lot of heart.
We didn't give up the entire game, we controlled the ball really
well, and we supported each other."
The Lady Barons record is now 7-8-1. Their next game will be
away, against Carlow University, on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
