Box Score

FUS Lady Barons were no match for the Undefeated Altoona Nittany Lions

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady Barons played a strong defensive game Saturday against the undefeated Penn State Altoona Nittany Lions. But the Lions conquered in the end, winning 3-0, their undefeated record still standing and now at 11-0.

The Lady Barons solid defense kept the Lions from scoring for the total of the first half and much of the second, with the Lions only putting away their first goal in the 79th minute of the game. The second and third goals for the Lions followed only minutes later.

The Lions out-shot the Lady Barons 26-4. FUS Keeper Nikki Traylor made a total of 11 saves, playing a large role in the Lady Barons' impressive defense.

FUS Captain Erin Fitzpatrick said, "We played a team that was undefeated and we held them off from scoring until the very end - so our defense really came together. We really united as a team and we played really hard. Even though we lost, I think it was one of our best games so far."

The Lady Barons are looking to improve their 5-6-1 record as the play Penn St. Behrend at 4 p.m. Wednesday on their home field.
