Lady Barons Get Big Win against Hilbert College
The Lady Barons traveled to take on Hilbert College on the road
on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Barons dominated for the
entire game, and were able to come away with an impressive 63-29
victory.
The Lady Barons played it close in first half, taking a
24-16 advantage, but exploded in the second, outscoring their
opponents, 39-13, to take a decisive victory.
Lady Barons Head Coach Kelly Herrmann was swift to praise
the efforts of several starters in the victory. "Jess
Belleque played extremely well today," Coach Herrmann remarked in a
post game interview, "She shot extremely well and set the
tone. Our team shot very well as a whole."
Coach Herrmann was also swift to praise the efforts of returning
starter Sarah Viancourt on both ends of the court. "Sarah
also played very well today. She fouled out of the game, but
she her fouls were warranted by her aggressive play. She did
a great job out there."
Center Nicole Naugle had her first double-double of the season
with fourteen points and eleven rebounds. Jess Belleque led
all scorers with seventeen points, while Kristin Belleque and
Angelle Cupit each contributed nine.
Coach Herrmann praised her team's efforts after a prolonged
absence of play: "After a tough loss to Penn State Altoona
and having our most recent game cancelled, I think the girls were
really anxious to play. We were able to translate that into a
win tonight."
The Lady Barons have an extended break for the holidays, but
return on January 7 for a home contest against Frostburg State
