Box Score FUS Lady Barons Soccer Defeat the Lady Bison of Bethany
College
STEUBENVILLE, OH - Franciscan University of Steubenville's
Kendra Evangelho lead the Lady Barons to a 3-2 victory over Bethany
College Wednesday, September 10 in a competitive show-down.
FUS Senior Kimberly Drew put the first goal on the board in the
9th minute of the game with an assist from Evangelho.
The Bison's retaliated with a goal by Forward Breane Minardi, tying
the game until the second half, when Evangelho scored in the 27th
minute.
Cassie Spalding of Bethany College then evened the score once
more, and the teams battled it out until Evangelho put the Lady
Barons on top with the winning goal in the 50th minute.
Evangelho commented on the game by saying, "We had a lot of fun out
there and we had a lot of heart."
The Bison's out-shot the Barons 13-11, but FUS Keeper Nikki
Traylor made an impressive 11 saves, playing a large role in Lady
Barons' victory. "I felt good going into (the game)," said Traylor.
"It was a good week of practice and I think we all felt prepared."
Head Coach Patrick Doering was most pleased with the "passion"
shown by the Lady Barons during the game. "The desire was there
today," said Doering. "They wanted to win. That team was a good
team, but at the end of the day their desire won."
The Lady Barons' record now stands at 2-2-0. Their next game
will be against Hilbert College this Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m.
at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
