Box Score Franciscan Women's Soccer took Win from Hilbert College, 4-2
STEUBENVILLE, OH - Kendra Evangelho recorded a hat trick to lead
Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady Barons to a 4-2 victory
over the Hilbert College Lady Hawks on Saturday, September 13,
2008.
Evangelho scored the first goal of the game in the
26th minute of the first half with an assist from
Kimberly Drew. The Lady Hawks then put their first goal on the
board minutes later with a right-side shot by Courtney Deville,
followed by another goal for the Lady Hawks by Tricia Knight.
But the Lady Barons came back in full force in the second half,
with FUS Freshman Stacy Lancour scoring in the 32nd minute with an
assist by Evangelho, who went on to score the third and fourth
goals for the Lady Barons with a right-corner shot and a penalty
kick a minute before the game ended.
FUS out-shot Hilbert College 18-14, the highest number of shots
belonging to Evangelho, with a total of eight, followed by FUS
Senior Kimberly Drew, who made a total of four shots and also had
an assist.
Lady Barons Keeper Nikki Traylor continued her domination of the
FUS goal, making a total of 10 saves, five in each half.
"Our main strength in this game was our goal keeper," said FUS
Junior Tana Vyvlecka, a captain for the Lady Barons. "We also
played really strong in the center field."
This victory puts the Lady Barons record at 3-2-0 and 1-0 for
conference play. They plan to build on this victory with another as
they face Geneva College Wednesday, Sept. 17, 5:30 p.m. at home.
