Box Score FUS Falls to the Lady Mavericks of Medaille College
BUFFALO, NY - The Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady
Barons fell to the Medaille College Lady Mavericks 1-0, Saturday,
Sept. 20.
It was a tough game for the Lady Barons. Mary Smialek of the
Lady Mavericks scored the one and winning goal of the game with a
shot from the close right wing in the 14th minute. But
the Lady Barons weren't able to come back and get on the board.
However, it was an even-matched game in many respects - only two
shots on goal for the Lady Barons and only three for the Mavericks.
FUS Keeper Nikki Traylor and Medaille College Keeper Mattea
Haessner were also tied at two saves apiece.
Lady Barons Captain Kendra Evangelho said, "We had trouble
working to our full capacity. But it was a good lesson, because now
Coach is really emphasizing stepping it up to the next level."
The Lady Barons' next game is Tuesday, Sept. 23, against Mt.
Aloyisius College at home at 4:30 p.m.
