Box Score Lady Barons Outplay the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg University
STEUBENVILLE, OH. - The Franciscan University of Steubenville
Lady Barons earned a 2-0 victory against Waynesburg University
Wednesday, Sept. 24, ending the Yellow Jackets five-game winning
streak.
Lady Barons Senior Kelly Koehr scored first with a penalty kick
in the first half. Up-and-coming Freshman Elisabeth Hofer scored
the Lady Barons' second goal in the 59th minute, with an
assist from Erin Fitzpatrick.
The Lady Barons out-shot the Yellow Jackets 18-9.
Head Coach Patrick Doering remarked on the game by saying, "I'm
really proud of how hard the girls played today. They were a strong
team. (Waynesburg) came in with a 5-1-1 record and it really took a
strong effort. I'm really proud of how much (the Lady Barons)
stepped it up."
Doering also commented on his particular happiness with the
performance of Hofer and for the openings she created for the team.
The Lady Barons' record is now 5-3-1. Their next game is
Saturday, Sept. 27, versus Frostburg St. University at home at 1
p.m.
