Lady Barons Fall to La Roche
The Lady Barons faced off against La Roche at home on Saturday
afternoon. The Lady Barons only had seven healthy players on
their roster for the game and were unable to keep pace with the
talented La Roche team, and it resulted in a 74-40 loss.
Despite the large margin of defeat, Lady Barons Head Coach
Kelly Herrmann was pleased with her team's performance, given the
difficult conditions they faced in the game. "We only had
seven players for the game, and La Roche is a very good team, one
of the best in our conference," Coach Herrmann said, "I'm proud of
the girls for playing really hard today, they really hustled.
La Roche had a lot more players and a lot more athleticism, but
we're working on it every day, and we will continue to get better."
Coach Herrmann highlighted the performances of Cara Mitchell,
Kristin Belleque, and Angelle Cupit. "Cara led the team is
scoring with thirteen points, and Kristin Belleque had twelve and
played solid defense. Angelle Cupit had an outstanding
game---she did a good job defensively and in getting open."
One area that Coach Herrmann highlighted as the main reason for
the large point difference was the Lady Barons' free throw
percentage. "We had thirty foul shots in the game, but only
made fifteen. We're generally a good free throw shooting
team, but this was a tough day for us."
