Barons Lose Heartbreaker 56-52 to Hilbert

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Franciscan University of Steubenville
men's basketball team lost another close one 56-52 to the Hawks of
Hilbert College on Saturday. The loss drops the Barons record to
3-14 (0-11) on the season.
The Barons started out strong, blazing to a 13-0 run in the
first five minutes of the game. The Hawks crept back and the teams
evenly exchanged baskets, with Hilbert holding a slight 25-24 edge
going into halftime.
The second half again saw the Barons and Hawks play back and
forth with the Barons taking a 4 point lead with 5:40 remaining.
The Hawks quickly regained the lead forcing the Barons to battle
back and tie the game 52-52. Hilbert took the lead with 30 seconds
left and sealed the score 56-52 with a pair of free throws.
Junior Pete Burak led all scorers with 13 points. Junior Josh
Ducoulombier followed with 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Rob
Slattery and Andrew Kay rounded out the top scorers with 10 and 8
points a piece. Dan Terrette led the Hawks with 12 points.
The Barons are at home again on Sunday as they welcome AMCC
opponent Pitt-Bradford at 3 p.m. in the Finnegan Field House.
