Pittsburgh, PA-The Franciscan University of Steubenville's cross
country team competed at the Carnegie Mellon Invite at Schenley
Park. The women finished in seventh place out of 13 teams with 154
points, even though they ran without their top three runners.
Leading the women's team was freshman Katherine Manion who ran
the out-and-back 5k course in 20:29 minutes and finished in 18th
place. Not far behind her came junior Lexie Mathis, who finished in
28th place with a time of 20:56. Junior Mary Manion ran a strong
race and placed 32nd overall with a time of 21:09. Completing in
the varsity team's score was sophomore Anna Hogan, who ran the in
21:35, and freshman Danielle Bonneson 21:36. Carnegie Mellon
University won the race overall with 54 points.
"The women's team competed well today," commented coach Dr.
Daniel Kuebler post-race. "We had numerous personal records broken
today as we are nearing the end of our season." The women's team
have only two races left in the season. They will be competing at
Oberlin College on October 17th starting at 10:30 a.m. The
Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Cross Country
championships will be held on October 31st in Eerie, PA starting at
1 pm.
