Lady Barons Suffer Crushing Loss to
D'Youville

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons volleyball team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville hosted D'Youville College on Saturday
afternoon, losing 26-24, 25-17, 25-27, 18-25, 7-15. With the loss,
the Lady Barons fell to 4-9 (1-3) on the season.
Several Lady Barons posted impressive numbers in the loss. Ali
Aeschliman of Steubenville, OH, had 10 kills and 2 blocks. Meg Kay
continued her consistent play with 9 kills, while Anna Cain and
Meghann Maccoun added 8 each. Captains Paddy Scott and Teresa
Marcotte were team leaders in assists with 19 and 17 assists,
respectively. Libero Nicole Henson had 14 digs, while Julie Matanzo
contributed 13 and Alyssa Wappes had 12.
"It was a tough loss to swallow," Lady Barons coach Kelly
Herrmann remarked in a post-game interview. "We won the first two
games while making several errors. We lost a close third game, and
then we became emotionally crushed and lost the final two. We made
several errors today, and that's something that really needs to be
cleaned up if we're going to win some matches."
The Lady Barons' next contest is a tri-match at Penn
State-Beaver starting at 7:30 p.m.
