Erie, PA- The Franciscan University of Steubenville's men's
cross country team placed the highest of the season with a
runner's-up title, taking second to Penn-State Behrend who
hosted the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Cross
Country Championships on Saturday, October 31.
The men's team concluded their season by placing the highest
they have in a race by coming in second out of 11 teams with 57
points. This finish was 40 points behind Penn State Behrend and 20
points ahead of Frostburg State in third place. The Barons put four
runners on the All-Conference team with senior Kevin Codd in sixth
place in 29:42, sophomore Kevin Leroy in 10th place with
30:30, freshman Jake Rudd in 13th place with 30:44
minutes and sophomore Marcus Fluty in 15th place with a
time of 31:01 minutes. The men's 8k course was also considered slow
due to the large amounts of mud and standing water, made muddier by
the women who ran the same paths just before the men.
"It has been a joy coaching this team" commented head coach Dr.
Daniel Kuebler post-race. "These runners are talented, supportive
of one another, and fun to be around. They have made me proud to be
their coach."
