Lady Barons Dominate Penn State Greater Allegheny, Beat Penn

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Lady Barons volleyball team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville traveled to Penn State Allegheny on
Tuesday night, winning 25-7, 25-8, 25-7. With the win, the
Lady Barons improved to 5-9 (1-3) on the season.
Ali Aeschliman of Steubenville, OH and Meg Kay were dominant in
the middle for the Lady Barons in the match, each registering 5
kills. Alex Stanley led the team in assists with 8, while
captain Teresa Marcotte contributed 6. Julie Matanzo had an
impressive 11 service aces, while Stanley added another 7.
Matanzo also had 7 digs, while Aeschliman and libero Nicole Henson
had 2 each.
The Lady Barons went on to play Penn State-Beaver in the second
game of the tri-match, beating them in three games, 25-18, 25-19,
and 25-19. Kay continued her outstanding play by registering 16
kills, 1 Ace, and 2 blocks. Aeschliman got 8 more kills on the
evening. Henson tallied 17 digs in the match.
Their next match will be at Mount Aloysius College
tomorrow at 7 p.m.
