Barons Suffer Heatbreaking Loss to Penn State-Behrend

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Barons basketball team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville hosted Penn State-Behrend on Tuesday
night, losing 74-51. With the loss, the Barons fell to 1-3
(0-1) on the season.
The Barons shot out to an early lead in the game, taking a 5-0
advantage right away which they built into a 14-5 lead.
However, Penn State-Behrend battled back to take a 30-25 lead into
halftime, and then blew the Barons away in the second half, quickly
building a 20 point lead which eventually translated into a 74-51
victory.
Connor Flanagan and Matt Liedel were the offensive standouts for
the Barons on the night with 12 points apiece. Josh
Ducoulombier had 10 points, while Mike Feuz and sam Titus and eight
and seven points, respectively. Chris Saltzman led Penn
State-Behrend with 18 points, and teammates Adam Potter and Nick
Colella had 15 and 10, respectively.
"We played an outstanding first 12 minutes of basketball,"
Barons coach Sean Donovan said. "Behrend is the number two
team in our conference, and we showed tonight that when we play our
game, at our pace, we can compete with anyone in our
conference. However, we've played four games in six days, and
we just didn't have enough in our legs tonight."
The Barons look to get their first win in the Allegheny Mountain
Collegiate Conference on December 2 when they host Penn
State-Altoona at 8 p.m.
