Lady Barons Fall Short against Mount Aloysius
CRESSON, PA - The Lady Barons basketball team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville traveled to Mount Aloysius College
yesterday, losing 60-53. With the loss, the Lady Barons fell
to 0-9 (0-6) on season.
The Lady Barons trailed by as many as 19 points, but rallied
back to cut the deficit to 6 at the game's close. However,
Mount Aloysius made their free throws down the stretch, enabling
them to come away with a 60-53 victory.
Cara Mitchell had an impressive offensive performance on the
night, registering 21 points. Marian Weber also had a
noteworthy effort with 24 rebounds.
"We played a hard game today," Lady Barons coach Kelly Herrmann
remarked. "We got down early, but really came together in the
second half and made it a game. We were able to press them
and create some turnovers, and we took several good shots and gave
ourselves many good scoring opportunities. What really
decided the game were free throws. They made their free
throws to seal the game at the end, and we were unable to shoot
ours with consistency; if we had, we definitely could have won this
game."
The Lady Barons' next contest is January 6 at Frostburg
State.
