Lady Barons Fall to D'Youville
BUFFALO, NY - The Lady Barons basketball team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville traveled to D'Youville College on
Friday, losing 66-41. With the loss, the Lady Barons fell to
0-6 (0-3) on the season.
Jess Belleque was the standout for the Lady Barons on the night,
shooting 5 for 13 and registering 12 points. Cara Mitchell
had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Marian
Weber also continued her solid play on the season with 7 points and
6 rebounds. Holly Beats led D'Youville with 23 points in the game.
"We had a good first half," Lady Barons coach Kelly Herrmann
remarked post-game. "We were down 14 at the half, but were
unable to keep pace with them in the second half. D'Youville
has two talented six foot players, and we were hard pressed to
contain them with our guard-oriented offense. Holly Beats led
D'Youville with 23 points in the game.
The Lady Barons look to get their first win of the season at
Pitt-Greensburg on December 10 at 6 p.m.
