STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons suffered a 56-49 loss to
Mount Aloysius College at home on Wednesday night. Franciscan
University of Steubenville now holds a 4-14 overall record and 2-13
record in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
The Lady Barons trailed early in the contest, but rallied back
to tie the game 15-15 midway through the first half. At this
point, the contest became extremely back-and-forth, and it was tied
at 24 at halftime. Mount Aloysius gained a seven point
cushion early in the second half which they never relinquished and
were able to steal the victory.
Cara Mitchell led all scorers on the night with 19 points.
Angelle Cupit had 11 points and Nichole Naugle added 8.
Mitchell and Cupit had 9 rebounds. Marian Weber and Kristin
Belleque had eight and seven boards respectively. Jordan
Henneberry was the standout in the passing game, finishing the
night with 4 assists. Amanda Rieg was the leading scorer for
Mount Aloysius with 14 points while Kaylee Keagy had 10.
The Lady Barons are set to tipoff against Penn State Behrend at
home this Saturday at 1 p.m.
