STEUBENVILLE, OH - On Monday, the Franciscan University of
Steubenville Lady Barons lost their final home game of the season
to the Penn State-Beaver Lady Lions, 60-41. The Lady Barons are now
4-16 overall for the season.
The Lady Barons struggled, shooting 27.5 percent from the field
and 11.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. Penn
State-Beaver, in contrast, shot 40 percent from the field,
including 30 percent from 3-point territory.
Freshman Kristin Belleque had another outstanding offensive
performance, leading the Lady Barons with 15 points. "Kristin
is a very offensive-minded player," Lady Barons Head Coach Kelly
Herrmann remarked in a post-game interview. "She drives to the
basket extremely well and is difficult to foul, so she is able to
get to the free throw line frequently."
Sophomore Nicole Naugle contributed 9 points before having to
leave the game with an injury, and Cara Mitchell added 7.
Sophomore Heather Sandusky was the offensive standout for Penn
State-Beaver with 19 points, while sophomore teammates Jasmine
Green and Tasia McCargo had 11 apiece.
The Lady Barons are scheduled to take on Medaille College on the
road Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
