Box Score BUFFALO, NY - The Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady
Barons could not find the win against the Lady Mavs of Medaille
College, losing 60-40. Now holding a season record of 4-17 overall
and 2-15 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, the Lady
Barons continue to struggle with only one game remaining this
season.
Lady Mavs took the lead from the beginning and finished the half
with a 21 point lead (36-15). The Lady Barons only shot 22.2
percent to the Lady Mavs' 44.1 in the first half. The Lady Barons
came into the second period looking to turn the game around with an
8 unanswered points. However, the Lady Mavs were able to stop this
run, and they had procured a 20 point lead by the final
whistle.
"We came in the first half without Kristen [Belleque] and
Caitlin [Donovan], and our girls looked scared. In the first we
just did not take care of the ball," Coach Herrmann commented in a
post-game interview. "We played much better in the second and
outshot them by one and played great defense."
Lady Barons sophomore Marian Weber was the game high scorer with
11 points and just missed the double-double with 9 rebounds, 7 of
which were defensive boards. Junior Cara Mitchell contributed with
10 points. Sophomore Angelle Cupit was able to pull down 13
rebounds. The Lady Mavs got a pair of ten point games from junior
Tiffany Sullivan and sophomore Amanda Boron.
The Lady Barons will look to win their final game of the season
as they tipoff at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the University of
Pitt-Greensburg.
