Barons Lose Second Game to La Roche College
By Chris Kane
PITTSBURGH, PA - Franciscan University of Steubenville Barons
men's basketball team lost their second game of the season to La
Roche College Redhawks 69-40 on Saturday. The Barons record now
stands at 3-17 overall and 0-14 in the Alleghany Mountain
Collegiate Conference.
The two teams first met in January with the decision going to
the Redhawks 69-59. On Saturday the Barons shot 24.5 percent to the
Redhawks 51.9. Barons junior Pete Burak was the leading scorer for
the team with ten points. Sophomore Nate Wojciechowski led the game
with 15 points for the Redhawks while junior teammate Dylan Grazier
totaled 12.
Barons head coach Sean Donovan commented on his teams'
performance, "This has never been a team to give up, but it's
difficult to win when shooting this poorly. Our shooting percentage
has to get batter to compete at this level." Coach Donovan
continued on to say, "This is the hardest playing group of men I
have ever coached and thanks to our defense we are in these games.
It does not help that our top offensive players are recovering from
the illness."
FUS continues searching to break their losing streak by tipping
off against non-conference local rival Ohio State-Eastern on Monday
night at 7 p.m.
