PITTSBURGH, PA - The new runners of Franciscan University of
Steubenville's men's cross country team competed in the first
race of the season on Tuesday, September 1. The team took first
place with a score of 24 points in the meet at Schenley Park
against La Roche College, Point Park University, and Chatham
University.
Freshman Jack Kaiser won his first collegiate race while leading
the men's team to win their first meet by 13 points. Kaiser
completed the 4k course in 14:17 minutes. Next for the team was
freshman Jake Rudd, placing in third in 14:40 minutes, followed by
returning runner and senior Kevin Codd in fourth place, running in
a time of 15:07. Junior Jared Kimutis, also competing for his first
time, scored six points for the team while running a time of 15:49.
Kimutis was followed by junior Sean Blouin, who placed tenth in a
time of 18:30. Point Park's team came in second place with 37,
followed by La Roche College in third with 59..
"This was a good meet for our incoming freshman and new
runners," commented head coach Dr. Daniel Kuebler.
The men's team will be competing next at Westminster College on
Saturday, September 5.
