PITTSBURGH, PA - The new runners of Franciscan University of
Steubenville's women's cross country team competed in the first
race of the season on Tuesday, September 1. Both teams took first
place with a score of 24 points in the meet at Schenley Park
against La Roche College, Point Park University, and Chatham
University.
Freshman Katherine Manion, also competing in her first
collegiate race, led the women's team to a 23 point victory over
Chatham University by winning the 4k race in a time of 16:40.
Returning runner and senior Monica Rust followed, placing second in
a time of 16:48. Junior Anna Mueller scored five points for the
team, finishing in 19:15 minutes, while freshman Christine Mayeaux
completed the course in 19:45 minutes and freshman Danielle
Bonneson in 20:04 minutes. Chatham University came in second place
with 47 points, while Point Park University scored 59 points.
"This was a good meet for our incoming freshman and new
runners," commented head coach Dr. Daniel Kuebler.
The women's team will be competing next at Westminster College
on Saturday, September 5.
