Box Score Barons Fall to St. Vincent
BETHANY, WV - The Barons of Franciscan University of
Steubenville traveled to Bethany College on Saturday and took on
St. Vincent College in the first game of a weekend
tournament. After a fiercely competitive match, the Barons
fell, 1-0. With the loss, the Barons' record dropped to 1-3
on the season.
Steve Duran with the offensive standout for the Barons on the
day, ending with 6 shots (3 on goal). Zeph Swope also had an
impressive effort with 2 shots (2 on goal), while Matt Taylor and
Eddie Recznik had a shot on goal apiece.
Ben Fecik led St. Vincent on the day with 4 shots (3 on goal),
and the sole goal of the game at 60:58. Teammate Luis
Rodriguez had 3 shots (2 on goal), while Alex Lardin had 2 shots (2
on goal).
"We're having trouble scoring," Barons assistant coach Johann
Marin remarked in a post-game interview. "We have all the
pieces, but we just can't seem to score. Our defense is
playing remarkably well, and the team is playing well as a unit;
however, we just can't get the ball into the net. No matter
how well we play, we're not going to be able to win until we can
score some goals."
The Barons look to rebound tomorrow against Bethany at 1 p.m.
