Box Score STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons soccer team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville took on Washington and Jefferson College
at home on Wednesday night in a game that ended in a 0-0 tie.
With the tie, the Lady Barons' record moved to 3-5-1 (2-1) on the
season.
Lady Barons goalkeeper Nikki Traylor was the team's standout on
the night. Time and time again, Traylor protected the goal,
recording several spectacular saves. She finished with 15
saves on the night, and did not allow a single goal. Kelly
O'Brien led the Lady Barons offensively with 5 shots, while Lauren
Miller had 4 and Regina Recznik contributed 3. Washington and
Jefferson goalie Stephanie Saussol also had a notable performance
with 8 saves on the night.
"We played very well tonight," Lady Barons coach Johann Marin
remarked in a post-game interview. "Nikki Traylor had an
amazing performance; she was the player of the game for us
tonight. We faced a difficult team today, but all of my girls
were able to raise their level of play, which allowed us to be
competitive. It would have been nice to get a win here, but
the fact that we tied a team that played this well shows that we're
really improving."
The Lady Barons' next contest is a home match against D'Youville
College this Saturday at 1 p.m.
