Franciscan Cross Country Makes Good Showing at Fisher Invitational

NEW WILMINGTON, PA-The Franciscan University of Steubenville's men's cross country team competed well at the Fisher Invitational at Westminster College on Saturday, September 5. T

Freshman Jack Kaiser competed well in the 8k race, placing seventh in a time of 27:51 minutes. Senior Kevin Codd, Franciscan's second runner, finished in twenty-eighth place with a time of 29:22. Sophomore Kevin Leroy followed close behind, finishing in thirty-second place in a time of 29:36. Also scoring points for the men's team were freshman Jake Rudd (30:14), and sophomore Marcus Fluty, who finished five minutes faster from last year's Fisher Invitational with 30:32 minutes. Franciscan scored 159 points and had an average time of 29:32.

"Our new runners competed very well for their first races," commented Coach Daniel Kuebler post-race. "There's a lot of promise for a great season".

The men's team will next compete at the National Catholic Championships in South Bend, IN, on September 18. Race times will start at 2:30 pm.
