ALTOONA, PA - The Lady Barons basketball team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville traveled to Penn State Altoona on
Wednesday night, losing 66-32. With the loss, the Lady Barons
dropped to 0-14 (0-11).
The Lady Lions (14-2) took control of the game from the opening
possession and never relinquished it. Sophomore guard Samantha
Holker led the full-court domination and finished the game with 18
points.
Senior Cara Mitchell continued her double-digit scoring,
carrying the Lady Barons with 17 points. She was a perfect six for
six from the line, and tallied six rebounds and four steals. Leann
Roggensack had four points for the Lady Barons, while sophomore
guard Jen Winkle had five points and three assists.
“We let Altoona dictate the game tonight,” Lady
Barons coach Kelly Herrmann remarked. “They were on top
early, and they never lost any of that control – we were
playing at their pace. We've had a long stretch of practice
days followed by game days, and our last two have involved long
travel – fatigue was definitely a factor tonight. I'm
looking forward to our next match against D'Youville, which
is a winnable game for us, and we definitely will be getting some
wins soon in our upcoming games.”
