ALTOONA, PA - The Barons basketball team of Franciscan
University of Steubenville traveled to Penn State-Altoona on
Wednesday night, losing 77-45. With the loss, the Barons dropped to
3-12 (2-9).
Within the first five minutes the Barons led 9-6 over the Lions
(7-9) with a jumper by senior Matt Liedel. However, Penn State
Altoona soon dominated the rest of the game, shooting 69.6% and
taking a 39-22 advantage by halftime.
Junior forward Andrew Kay led the Barons in scoring with 10 points
and tallied three rebounds. Connor Flanagan contributed nine points
while Liedel finished with eight points and six rebounds. Sophomore
forward Jay Adamsky had a double-double for Altoona with 21 points
and 11 rebounds.
The Barons are now 0-4 against Penn State Altoona since entering
the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
“Altoona came out with huge intensity tonight,” Barons
coach Sean Donovan remarked. “They shot over sixty percent
for the game, and you're not going to win that many games
against a team that shoots that well. Andrew Kay had a good game
for us tonight and led us in scoring. We're looking forward
to D'Youville this weekend.”
The Barons tip-off against D'Youville at home this
Saturday at 8 p.m.
