BUFFALO, NY – The Franciscan University of Steubenville
Lady Barons basketball team faced off against the Medaille College
Lady Mavericks on Saturday, losing 76-43. With the loss, the Lady
Barons dropped to 1-13 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate
Conference and 1-17 overall.
The Lady Barons kept pace with Medaille within the first five
minutes of the game, trailing by only two points. However, the Lady
Mavs rank number one in the AMCC with a 15-0 record and the Lady
Barons found themselves down 43-21 at the half.
Lady Barons captain Caitlin Donovan had her best game of the
season, registering 12 points, one assist, a block, and a steal.
Donovan shot a perfect four for four from the three-point range to
gather her points. Sarah Viancourt, Sarah Clemente, and Jessi
Darmelio each had six points for the Lady Barons. Medaille's
junior guard, Amanda Sahar, led all scorers with 16 points.
“We played well tonight, considering we faced extremely
difficult competition with Medaille,” Lady Barons coach Kelly
Herrmann noted. “We rested some of our players, and most of
the players on our roster saw an equal amount of playing time
tonight. We're looking forward to a good game tomorrow
against Hilbert.”
The Lady Barons' play this Sunday at Hilbert College at 2
p.m.
