Box Score BRADFORD, Pa.— The Franciscan University men's
soccer team traveled to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on
Saturday looking for their second straight win. Freshman standout
Leonel Lacayo managed to get his team-leading eighth goal of the
season, but it wasn't enough as the Barons fell to the
Panthers 5-1.
The Panthers did not waste anytime getting their first goal, as
it came just under two minutes into the contest. They tacked on
three more first half goals to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
"The Bradford team had a talented offensive line and due
to defensive lacks in speed and improper marking, they were able to
penetrate our line early in the game," head coach Johann
Marin said.
Lacayo's goal came 71 minutes in, making the score 4-1 at
the time. The Barons would give up one more goal later in the
contest.
"Their effort was tremendous," Marin noted of his
team. "The result is not as upsetting as past games because
of their intense effort and endeavor to put into play what
we've been practicing."
The Barons now stand 2-11-1 overall on the season and 1-4-1 in
the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. They are back in
action again when they host Mt. Aloysius College for their senior
night on October 21 at 4 p.m.
