STEUBENVILLE – Homecoming Weekend proved to be good luck for Franciscan University's Lady Baron Tennis team. After a six-game losing streak, the Lady Barons defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, 7-2.

In a trend that the Lady Barons hope to continue for the remainder of the season, they appeared calm and focused on the court and the results showed.

"You could just tell that the Lady Barons were just really comfortable with their game today," said head coach Curtis Allen. "It was very good to see. They came out strong and they were having fun."

Team captain and seeded in the number one spot, Taylor McColgan continued to bring her confidence and skill to the court.

"Taylor, in number one singles, played very, very sound tennis," Allen said.  "She really enjoyed being out there."

McColgan won her singles match against Stefanie Chaffee, 6-1 and 6-2. Joined by Marija Beck in doubles, McColgan defeated Chaffee and Katie Izzo, 8-4.
