STEUBENVILLE – Franciscan University's Lady Baron Soccer team faced a tough challenge Saturday afternoon in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's number four team, the Lady Lions of Penn State Behrend, falling 2-0. The Lady Barons are now 3-7-1 overall on the season and 1-2-1 in the AMCC.

The Lady Barons started off slow in the first half with Behrend controlling the field offensively. With 14 minutes left in the half, Behrend forward Glennis Robarth scored to give Behrend the 1-0 lead.

The second half proved to be better for the Lady Barons, who were able to contend on the offensive side. Amanda Looman and Megan Scanlon each had two shots on goal. Twenty minutes in, Behrend's Lindsey Steinsdoerfe shot ricocheted off a Franciscan player to put the ball out of reach for goalkeeper Lauren Koath and giving the Lions a 2-0 victory.

"Penn State-Behrend is a very good team," said head coach Johann Marin. "They played very well today and we must acknowledge that."

Franciscan hits the road this Tuesday, October 12, to face AMCC opponent Penn State Altoona. Game time is 6 p.m.
