Kuzma Night Brings Community and University Together

Box Score

STEUBENVILLE — Basketball season is back and so is Franciscan University's third annual Kuzma Community Night. Taking place on Wednesday, November 17, at 6 p.m. in the Finnegan Fieldhouse, the night will honor the legendary Henry J. "Hank" Kuzma while the Franciscan Baron Basketball teams take on Ohio University Eastern.

Hank Kuzma is the legendary Barons basketball coach who compiled a 95-19 record from 1954-1958, a singular accomplishment for a small college team that lacked proper athletic facilities and recruiting power. Kuzma also led the 1958 team to national recognition as the "Number One Small College Basketball Team in the U.S." Hank and his wife, Kay, will be present for the evening with an honoring of Hank taking place after the completion of the women's game.

Families are encouraged to attend the evening's events. Games for youth of all ages will be played in between the men's and women's basketball games along with a 50/50 raffle. Concessions will be sold at family-friendly prices.

So pull out your green and gold gear and join your friends in cheering on the Barons and honoring Hank Kuzma. Admission to both games is free with a canned food donation for Urban Mission Ministries.
