Box Score CRESSON, Pa.—The Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady Barons basketball team took to the court at Mount Aloysius College for their second conference game of the season Thursday night. Although down by only four points early in the second half, the Lady Barons struggled offensively and suffered a defeat by the Lady Mounties, 70-55.
The Lady Barons had three players score in the double-digits on the night, with freshman Molly Coogan leading the way with 18, Elizabeth Mitchell coming off the bench for 16, and Sarah Viancourt pitching in with ten.
Franciscan faced a nine-point deficit entering the second half, but within the first four minutes the Lady Barons narrowed that deficit to four with buckets from Viancourt, Christine Conrad, and a big three-pointer from Coogan. The Lady Mountie offense was too much, however, and Mt. Aloysius stretched its lead back to the double-digits for an out-of-reach win.
"We have to get some shots to start falling," commented Lady Baron head coach Luke Heusel. "I think that our performance level has not reflected our potential yet."
The Lady Barons shot just 25% from the field on the night, and just 20% from the three-point line.
Franciscan, now 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, will host Medaille College on Saturday, December 11. Coach Heusel continues to look forward: "Now we just have to get ready for Medaille." Game time begins at 2 p.m.
