Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The momentum was hard to maintain for the
Lady Baron Tennis team after Saturday's win, falling to the
D'Youville College Spartans, 7-2. It was day two in the
team's New York trip for conference play, earning a win the
day before against Medaille College. The Lady Barons now stand 1-2
overall on the season and 1-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate
Conference.
The Franciscan University Lady Barons showed strength in their
singles play against Medaille, but were swept off the court against
D'Youville. Franciscan earned only one win in each singles
and doubles events.
"We just need to play more," said head coach Curtis
Allen. "We need more experience. We have young players
and a very young program, and we need more time on the court to
grow."
Number five seed Lyndsay Nadeau earned Franciscan's only
singles victory with set scores of 6-1, 6-4. Lady Baron doubles
combo Kiah Christiansen and Amanda Boik again came through for a
win, 9-8(6), in the number three spot.
"Kiah and Amanda have been really playing well. They have
had some really tough matches and persevered this weekend,"
Allen said.
The Lady Barons will take on Washington and Jefferson College
this Wednesday to try and earn another season win. The match will
start at 4 p.m. on Franciscan's Belleview Park courts.
