Lady Baron Tennis takes on AMCC Leaders

Box Score

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady Baron Tennis team hosted the Penn State Behrend Lady Lions Saturday afternoon, falling to the number one team in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, 9-0. The Lady Barons are now 1-2 in the AMCC and 1-4 overall on the season.

"It was a tough one," said head coach Curtis Allen. "It's a learning experience – we didn't play our best tennis but they were a very good team and were tough to handle. We'll definitely learn from this loss."

The young Lady Barons ran into an older and more established foe and took their lumps.  One learning curve for the team is to take what they worked on during the week's practices and translate that onto the court when it is match day.

"When we practice it's been a lot different than how we have been playing. It seemed that they got overwhelmed during the match," Allen said.

The Lady Barons have three days of practice before they travel to Bethany College on Tuesday, September 21. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m.
