Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y.—Franciscan University's Baron basketball team faced tough competition in the Hilbert College Hawks Saturday afternoon, losing 75-52. The Barons are now 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
"We came out really flat tonight," said head coach Sean Donovan. "Hilbert came ready to play and had the hot hand tonight with making their shots. We didn't have the extra jump in our step to get a good rhythm going."
Senior Nate Stanton was the standout for the Barons, totaling 16 points for the game. Connor Flanagan added 14 and Thomas Kleinschnitz tallied 10. Frank Murray lent a hand with four assists.
"Hilbert is a good team that played Medaille and [Penn State] Behrend really strong," noted Donovan. "This shows how close this conference is in terms of competiveness."
The Barons head to the court again tomorrow to take on D'Youville College. "We have very similar tough competition tomorrow so it's time to focus," Donovan added. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
