Box Score BRADFORD, Pa.— Franciscan University of Steubenville's women's basketball team is now on a six game losing streak after Saturday's 62-53 loss to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in the first conference game of the season. This leaves the Lady Barons 0-6 on the season.
"The team played better overall than past games," said head coach Luke Heusel, "but we let it get away from us in the second half."
The Lady Barons were down by six at the end of the initial half, and down by nine when the game finished. In the second half Pitt-Bradford scored a total of 34 points, six more points than in the first.
"Turnovers were our biggest weakness," noted coach Heusel. "They were costly and at the wrong time. We had a few two or three minute periods of little turnovers. They built up and it got us behind."
Though the spread in scores widened the second half, coach Heusel was pleased with the improvement the team made on defense. Lacey Huck had six defensive rebounds, and Hannah Flanagan five. Huck also scored six field goals and five free throws. Flanagan scored five field goals, and Kristen Belleque six free throws.
The Lady Barons play again on Dec. 7 against Mt. Aloysius at home.
