Box Score NEW CONCORD, Ohio—Franciscan University's soccer teams
traveled to Muskingum University Saturday afternoon to take on the
Muskies, splitting the doubleheader. The Lady Barons defeated the
Muskies 3-1 with a hat trick by Ali Moravsky,
while the Barons fell 6-0.
"It took a little while for the women to settle into the game
today," said assistant coach Billy Herrmann, "but once they had
possession of the ball they moved really well together."
With four shots on the day, freshman Moravsky brought home the
goals for the Lady Baron win. Ashley
Ruttencutter and Margaret
Beigel assisted Moravsky on two out of the three goals.
The Lady Barons are now 2-1 overall. Conference play begins
Sept. 24, against Medialle College. The team travels to Penn State
Beaver this Tuesday, Sept. 13, for a 5 p.m. match.
The Barons faced an offensive powerhouse in the Muskies,
totaling only 13 shots to their 37 on the day. Tommy Allen, Joseph
Krilich, and Mark Allen carried the Baron offense with little luck
at the net. Goalkeeper Chris Nehrbas saved 10 for the Barons,
battling six Muskie goals coming from six separate players.
"The men moved the ball slowly, holding on to it when they
should have passed it," noted Herrmann. "The lacked the necessary
chemistry needed on the field today, and it was disheartening for
the Barons to watch Muskingum score a few goals off of cross passes
with headers."
The Barons now sit 0-2 overall on the season. The team hosts
Kenyon College this Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m.
